In the south-east of France, Aix-en-Provence is a spa town with a rich cultural heritage. If the winters are sometimes a little rainy, you can nevertheless count on more than 300 days of sunshine per year and mild temperatures. It is known for its lyric art festival, for having been painted in all its facets by Paul Cézanne ... and for its calissons! This sweet treat will be offered to you after a Sisteron lamb and wine from Provence. What are you waiting for to see the city other than in a painting?

Each year in winter, the Santons Fair is held, the opportunity to discover the secrets of this ancestral craft. Walk in the footsteps of Cézanne, who lived all his life in Aix-en-Provence and open the doors of his workshop, the family country house or the Granet museum, which brings together some of his works. In summer, after stocking up on fresh vegetables at the market, head for the top of Sainte-Victoire to enjoy a breathtaking view of the vineyards.

Right here!

Founded in 122 BC, Aix-en-Provence has changed its name several times during its history, first Aquae Sextiae, then Aquis Sestis before taking its current name. The names of the streets of the historic center have also evolved and as you walk through them you will notice that they are indicated on signs in Provencal and French. Previously, the name of the streets designated the type of activities they hosted, before being replaced by those, more illustrious, of the great figures of French history.
