What can you see in Barcelona in three days?

Barcelona is rich in fantastic architecture, marked by the influence of the famous Catalan architect Antonio Gaudi. With the beach right in the centre, a festive atmosphere and delicious tapas, it is the most visited city in Spain, with 7.5 million visitors a year. On the first day, go for a walk in the Barri Gòtic, literally « the gothic quarter » with its labyrinth of alleys and buildings dating back to the Middle Ages, and its cathedral, before taking a gourmet break at the gloriously colourful La Boqueria market. And finish with a gentle stroll along the Barceloneta beach, followed by a dinner of seafood specialities in this lively neighbourhood of the Catalan capital. Your second day starts with a walk on Montjuïc hill. There is a beautiful view of Barcelona from here, and you can visit the Joan Miró Foundation. Then go back down to the city centre and find the Palau Güell, a magnificent UNESCO-listed hotel designed by Gaudi. Heading towards the northwest of Barcelona, your itinerary continues to Güell Park, constructed between 1900 and 1914. Like a parade of coloured mosaics in the middle of plants, it was initially designed by Gaudi as a garden city and includes four houses integrated into the landscape. Day three, and in front of you stands the Sagrada Familia, the emblem of the capital of Catalonia. The construction of this church, designed by Gaudi, began in 1882. But it was never completed. Gaudi's original vision was for 18 towers to rise above the cathedral. In addition to its summit with a panoramic view, don't miss the facade of the Nativity and the crypt, both listed. Another Gaudi monument to visit is the Casa Batlló, a round, colourful mansion with a breathtaking internal lightwell decorated with blue tiles. Also worth seeing is the Casa Milà, nicknamed La Pedrera, one of Gaudi's last projects, with its monumental architecture and rough stone facade. Other places to see in Barcelona include the Picasso Museum and the Palau de la Música Catalana.

Where is a good place to spend a day near Barcelona?

Visit beautiful villages and discover small secret paradises known only to the Catalans, all less than an hour and a half from Barcelona. Sitges is the ideal place to enjoy the seaside and to party. A former fishing port and the starting point of the migrations towards the Americas at the end of the 19th century, it is an unusual place that you can explore as the fancy takes you. If you are more of a mountain person, go to the monastery of Montserrat, an hour by train from Barcelona. Perched high in a mountain range with strange shapes and dense vegetation, this monastery, with its fantastic architecture, is one of the most visited places in Catalonia. The area is also known for its many hiking trails. If you like wine tasting, head to Alella, 30 minutes north of Barcelona, an area with particularly fine vineyards. In one day from Barcelona, you can visit the cellars and taste the Alella, mostly organic wine.
