The high-speed rail connection between Milan and Paris is now operational after being interrupted since 2023 due to a landslide that blocked the Fréjus railway tunnel. Starting in March, TGV INOUI resumes its direct route to Italy, offering thousands of low fares to Milan and Turin, departing from Paris, Mâcon Loché TGV, Chambéry, Modane, and Oulx.

The TGV INOUI line to Italy departs from Paris Gare de Lyon, stopping at Mâcon Loché TGV , Chambéry - Challes-les-Eaux then Modane, before heading to Italy and Oulx-Sestriere, Turin and finally Milan. So you can catch a direct TGV to Italy from Paris or hop on the train at Mâcon, Modane and Chambéry.

Milan: an ultra-fashionable city break

You can get a TGV INOUI train from Paris-Milan : just 7 hours after you leave Paris Gare de Lyon , you'll arrive in Milan. It takes 4 hours for the Chambéry-Milan leg.

Turin: a regal destination

Nestled on the edge of the Alps, Turin is around 5.30 hours from Paris by TGV INOUI. It's the capital of Piedmont and was once home to the kings of Italy. Head to the royal palace to learn more about the incredible history of the House of Savoy. Opulence and majesty sum up this sumptuous setting, which is reason enough to visit Turin.

But this Italian city has plenty of other surprises in store: royal buildings are dotted around the city, there's Valentino Park with its reconstructed medieval village, the banks of the River Po which are perfect for a stroll, the former Fiat factory now a cultural venue and all the typical restaurants serving delicious local specialities. Oulx-Sestriere: an Alpine destination

The Italian Alps await! Oulx station is less than 5 hours from Paris by TGV INOUI and serves some of the best Alpine resorts.

Sauce d'Oulx (10 mins by shuttle bus from Oulx station) is a charming village resort. It's the gateway to the Via Lattea (Milky Way), a world-famous Franco-Italian ski area with over 400 km of slopes including some legendary runs. Sestriere provides access to the Motta and Sises mountains, home to black runs that have made even the hardiest of ski champions quiver in their boots!

Once done, you can head back to Sauce d'Oulx and its lively ambiance. Its restaurants, bars and discos will ensure you enjoy some well-earned après-ski fun. A mountain destination to enjoy during winter and summer!

Verceil: history, landscapes and great food

Verceil can be reached via a connecting train from Turin, and lies on the banks of the River Sesia with the gorgeous Po Plain as a backdrop. Head to the historic centre, where 2,000 years of history await. Admire the Roman remains, as well as the Basilica of Sant'Andrea, a Romanesque beauty, and the cathedral with its famous medieval bell tower.

Verceil is also the rice capital of Europe. Around the town, you'll find paddy fields as far as the eye can see. The unique landscape will enthral you, plus you must try Piedmont-style rice, which is rice cooked in a meat stock to which local wine and mushrooms are added. The dish is then topped with cheese and nutmeg.

Novara: for a nature break

Novara in north-west Italy is easily reached by train from Turin. Before exploring the natural wonders that surround it, stroll through its narrow streets, guided by the magnificent dome of the Basilica of San Gaudenzio of Novara. Pop into one of the many bakeries to buy the local bread, San Gaudenzio, with its rich, soft dough.

Then head off to tour the surrounding area. You'll find paddy fields, canals and picturesque farms, perfect if you want to recharge your batteries... and sample some great food. The Casalbeltrame Marsh Nature Reserve is THE place for nature lovers. It's a protected marshland area where you'll spot wild birds putting on a spectacular show. From Novara you can also reach the crystal-clear waters of Lake Maggiore. Time to get into lazy mode!

What discount cards are valid for train tickets to Italy?

Holders of the "Avantage" card (Jeune, Adulte e or Senior), can use it to travel to Italy at reduced prices:

  • You'll get 30% off and, if you have the "Avantage Adulte" card, the same discount for an adult companion.
  • You'll get 60% off for children travelling with you if they are aged 4 to 11 (up to 3 children)

You can travel with a bike on board the TGV INOUI to Italy. It's free of charge and doesn't require a reservation, provided that it's foldable and can be stored in the luggage compartment, or dismantled, folded and stored in a special bag. The maximum dimensions allowed are 1.30 m by 0.90 m.

Travelling with your pet on the TGV INOUI to Italy

TGV INOUI trains to Italy accept small pets. Pets weighing less than 6 kg and in a carrier can travel free of charge and without a ticket on TGV trains. For heavier pets, you'll need to buy an "Animaux" (Animal) ticket, which is only available from the station or shops. Guide dogs for the blind travel free of charge, regardless of their weight or size.

Do you need to carry ID on board the TGV INOUI to Italy?

Fares for France - Italy tickets on a TGV INOUI to Italy

The "Mini" ticket starts at €29 and is the cheapest, but it is non-exchangeable and non-refundable.

"Seconda / Prima" tickets start at €54 and are exchangeable and refundable free of charge up to 7 days before travel. €19 is withheld from 6 days before travel. They cannot be exchanged or refunded 30 minutes before or after the train's departure.

The "Liberté Seconda / Prima" fare is from €149 and is exchangeable and refundable free of charge until the train's departure, but cannot be exchanged or refunded after departure.

For children aged 4 to 12, the "Bambino" fare is 50% of the adult ticket price.
