Paris Region

Book a train ticket

For many, the Île de France first evokes Paris and its grandiose monuments such as the Eiffel Tower or the Sacré Coeur. But beware of clichés! The Ile-de-France region is also the Palace of Versailles, the park of the Chevreuse valley and its 81,500 hectares of unspoiled nature, the listed villages of Roche-Guyon or Provins ... In short, many more contrasts than you had imagined!

When the good weather arrives, the quays of the Seine fill up with walkers and the open-air cafés flourish. You have to see the magnificent flowers blooming at the Jardin des Plantes or Luxembourg. Winter, change of scenery! Christmas decorations fill department stores to the delight of (older) children and fairy-tale shows take over the Palace of Versailles.

Right here!

"Ile-de-France" Funny name for a region located in the middle of a country, no? The name of island would in fact evoke the multiple rivers and streams that delimit its territory, as isolated from the rest, while the word “France” refers to the “country of France” founded by Clovis in the 5th century. Here is a good anecdote to impress your loved ones!
