45 minutes from Tours, the Château d'Ussé inspired Charles Perrault for the tale of Sleeping Beauty. Indeed, it is while visiting the castle with its many fine turrets, that the author imagines a sleeping princess at their top, waiting for a prince to come and free her. It even seems that Disney copied the model of the castle for its amusement park!
