Located in the city centre, it plays a key role in international rail connections between Switzerland, France and Germany. From the station, you can easily reach Basel Cathedral on Münsterplatz (around 15 minutes on foot) or Basel Town Hall (around 20 minutes).

Basel station is very well served by public transport. To get there, you can take one of the tram lines that stop in front of the station ("Bahnhof SBB" stop). Many bus lines serve the station. If you are a cyclist, you can easily park your bike at the Velostation at the station.
