Luggage rules on board TGV INOUI trains

Are you planning to travel by TGV INOUI in the near future? Consult the luggage rules on board.

How do I travel with a bike on a train?

  • Bike spaces can be booked on board certain TGV INOUI and INTERCITÉS trains.

When you buy a ticket with a bike space, your seat will be assigned to you next to the space for your bike.

Bookings for your bike must be made when you buy your train ticket.

If your search does not return any results, this means that the TGV INOUI stock does not have a dedicated place or no more spaces are available.

Bikes can also be disassembled and stored in a cover, free of charge and with no need to make a booking. Disassembled bikes must be stored in the luggage.

When folded, your folding bike can travel with you as hand luggage, as long as it measures no more than 90 x 130 x 50 cm when folded.

Your folded scooter, whether electric or not, can travel with you as hand luggage as long as it measures no more than 90 x 130 x 50 cm when folded.

Please note: it is forbidden to charge the batteries of electric scooters and electric unicycles.

Failure to comply with the luggage policy on board TGV INOUI and INTERCITÉS trains may result in the payment of €50 for 1 item of excess or non-compliant luggage, €100 for 2 items of excess or non-compliant luggage, and €150 for 3 or more items of excess or non-compliant luggage. For more information, consult the SNCF Voyageurs passenger fares.

  • To transport your bike or scooter easily with OUIGO, simply add the bike option when you book or up to 30 minutes before departure.

    • Non-folding bike: it must be disassembled and stored in a cover (maximum dimensions: 130 x 90 x 50 cm).

This option is only available on OUIGO Train Classique for €10 per journey and per passenger under certain conditions:

    • Maximum 2 bikes per booking;
    • to be suspended by you in the dedicated space at the entrance to the carriage.

Spaces are limited and must be booked in advance.

    A change of train?

If you change from a OUIGO Train Classique to a OUIGO Grande Vitesse (or vice versa) or if you change to another same train, your option remains valid.

Please note that the fully assembled bike option is not available on OUIGO Grande Vitesse trains, and is non-refundable if you change to this type of train. On Grande Vitesse (high-speed) trains, bikes must be disassembled and stored in a cover.

    Good to know:

    • Options, like tickets, are non-refundable.
    • Recumbent bikes, tricycles, tandems and trailers are not accepted.

Outside these time periods, and therefore at peak times, it is forbidden to travel with your bike for reasons of security and comfort for other passengers.

Folding bikes are accepted if they are folded and there are no parts or accessories that could injure anyone or damage other luggage.

Q&A

  • Recumbent bikes, tricycles, tandems, cargo bikes, longtail cargo bikes, trailers and bikes transported in a cardboard box are not permitted.

  • You cannot book a bike space on its own. Bike bookings cannot be added retrospectively (except for TER trains).

To add a bike space to your ticket, cancel your train ticket and get another ticket, this time adding a bike.

  • If your search returns no results, it's because you can't take a fully assembled bike with you, or because there are no more spaces available.

SNCF allows you to travel with your bike disassembled and stored in a transportation cover by complying with the maximum dimensions and terms and conditions of carriage according to the type of train.

To ensure that your journey goes smoothly, plan to arrive at the station early to disassemble and put your bike in its cover.

  • Tickets with a bike can be booked for all passengers. If some passengers are travelling without a bike, we invite you to make a new booking for passengers without bikes.

  • If you want to travel light, the Mes Bagages service offered by TGV INOUI allows you to ship your luggage, including your bike, directly to your destination address.
