In 2013, the first direct TGV line opened between France and Spain. No need to change trains: a direct trip from Paris-Barcelona is now possible!
Currently, twelve TGV inOui trains (fourteen during summer) travel between France and Spain every day. Can you believe it? What better reason to go on holiday or take a weekend getaway to the country of Cervantes.
The train: eco-friendly travel
Did you know? A kilometre travelled by plane is 45 times more polluting than a kilometre travelled by train. And in the current climate emergency, this is an extremely important figure! So if you’re dreaming of going to Spain soon, why not go by train?
It’s an opportunity to do a good deed without depriving yourself of travel. It’s also a great way to discover new places through the train window. And from Languedoc to the Costa Brava, you’re sure to see some incredible panoramas!
Six possible destinations
Travel to Spain from fifteen French cities. Among them are: Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Toulouse and Perpignan. On the other side of the Pyrenees, six cities are waiting for you: Figueres, Girona, Barcelona, Tarragona, Zaragoza and Madrid.
Barcelona and Madrid need no introduction. But did you know, for example, that in Tarragona there is a beautifully preserved collection of Roman archaeological remains that are inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List? You’d be mad not to see them...
Two fares for the same adventure
To get the best prices on your tickets, book them as early as possible (up to four months in advance) in stations and shops, on the SNCF Connect website or in an approved travel agency! With the Essential fare, for example, prices start from €39 for a ticket from Paris-Barcelona. Note that cancellation of your trip is possible, but will be subject to a 50% charge.
For a more flexible offer, opt for the Flexi fare. Cancel or exchange your booking: it’s free up to 24 hours before departure. After that, a 10% charge will be applied until the train departs.
Discounts available
And some good news! If you have the Carte Avantage Jeune, you can enjoy a 25% discount on your bookings to Spain.
In addition, on all TGV inOui trains between France and Spain, tickets are free for children under four years of age who don’t require a separate seat. A 40% discount is also available for all children under the age of fourteen.
Advantages on board and on arrival
Use the internet all throughout your TGV inOui journey thanks to the onboard free Wi-Fi. If you fancy a quick snack or are in need of something more substantial, head to the buffet carriage and treat yourself to some typical plates and dishes. The train staff will make you feel at ease whatever your language. All our onboard staff can speak French and Spanish.
If you intend to cycle upon arrival at your destination, you can take your bike on board the train for free (provided it is placed in a suitable cover).
