Travel with your bike

Depending on the route and the train, the acceptance rules vary.

It is not possible to reserve a bicycle space alone. It cannot be added a posteriori. To add a bicycle space you must cancel your train ticket and take a ticket again by adding a bicycle.

When you buy a bike seat, you get a seat next to your bike. For this reason, cyclists and non-cyclists cannot travel together: separate reservations must be made.

If your search does not show any results, either an unassembled bicycle cannot be taken with you or there are no more spaces available. SNCF still allows you to travel with your bike under a 120X90 cm cover and without space limit. In this case, you must modify your search criteria by adding "+ a bike" and choosing the "dismantled bike under cover" solution. To ensure the smooth running of your trip, plan to come to the station in advance to dismantle and put your bike in a cover.

SNCF also offers you to transport your bike with the “My Baggage” service.

All SNCF trains allow you to travel with your bike. However, the acceptance rules vary:

On board TGV INOUI and INTERCITÉS trains, you have two solutions:
On a reserved seat (service by reservation when purchasing the ticket, for a fee, limited number of seats per train).

In a 120X90cm transport bag (free and without space limit).

On board TER trains: your bike travels free of charge, suspended or placed in a space provided for this purpose. These locations are accessible subject to availability and cannot be reserved. You also have the option of traveling with your dismantled bike under a 120X90cm cover.
On board OUIGO trains: your bike must be folded or dismantled and stored in a cover (paying € 5). Find out more.

The reservation of tickets with bicycle is made for all passengers. If some passengers are traveling without a bicycle, we invite you to make a new reservation for travelers without a bicycle.

Considered as hand luggage, this service is free on TGV INOUI, TER, INTERCITÉS trains. You do not have to make a reservation for your bike. On OUIGO, it is compulsory to book an "Additional baggage" option at the price of 5 €. The cover must measure a maximum of 120x90cm and its total weight must be less than or equal to 30kg. This service is chargeable (10 €), it is available by reservation on board certain TGV and INTERCITÉS trains. You must then make a reservation for your bike when you buy your train ticket. An amount of € 10 for this service is then automatically added to the price of your ticket. The number of seats is limited per train (two seats on TGV trains) and varies according to the type of train and the time of year. If, however, your train does not offer a reservable bike space, the folded or dismantled bike solution under a cover is still possible.
