Key points to remember

You can exchange or cancel your tickets on the SNCF Connect website or app if fare terms and conditions allow. These after-sales terms and conditions differ depending on the train company and the ticket fare chosen; After departure, and except in exceptional cases (industrial action, etc.), exchanges and cancellations are no longer possible. Exchange and cancellation fees apply, some tickets are exchangeable and refundable after departure (e.g. Pro tickets, Liberté card fare, Militaire card fare)

Where can I view the fare conditions for my ticket?

Exchange, cancellation and refund terms and conditions are indicated on SNCF Connect as soon as you click on the chosen fare on the results page of your ticket search.

You can also find them :

  • in your order confirmation e-mail,
  • or on your e-ticket; in the "Tickets" section: by clicking on "Manage booking" then on "Fare terms and conditions" at the bottom of the page;
  • in your customer account in the "View your tickets" section
     

Good to know

If your trip includes several journeys, the terms and conditions for each journey apply. If a train is cancelled due to an exceptional incident or industrial action, after-sales terms and conditions are relaxed.

What are the terms and conditions for exchanging or cancelling a TGV INOUI or INTERCITÉS ticket?

Up to 7 days before departure, you can exchange or cancel your mandatory booking INTERCITÉS or TGV INOUI in France and abroad tickets free of charge: TGV INOUI to Italy, Belgium, Luxembourg, Freiburg, DB SNCF Voyageurs in cooperation (excluding Lyria, Eurostar and TGV INOUI to Spain). 

From 6 days before departure, expect fees: 

  • a deduction of €19 per person and per trip on TGV INOUI trains
  • 40% of the ticket price with a maximum deduction of €15 on INTERCITES trains with mandatory booking 

From 30 minutes before departure, the ticket can be exchanged a maximum of 1 time for the same day and the same trip. The deduction is applied only once, for trips including one or more connections. After an exchange, the ticket is non-refundable. 

NB: once the train has departed, tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable.

Good to know

Depending on the terms and conditions of your ticket, you now have the option of exchanging your ticket and traveling with other train companies than the one initially booked. For example, you can exchange a TGV INOUI ticket for a OUIGO ticket. Special case for OUIGO: an exchange is only possible on another OUIGO train.

  • An exchange is possible for another train on that day, on the same route as the initial one.

     It is possible to obtain a ticket on full trains, but with no guarantee of a seat and subject to the maximum number of standing places available.  

    From 30 minutes before the departure of the initial train, the number of exchanges is limited to 1 per customer.  Exchange free of charge up to 30 minutes after departure. 

    Tickets are non-exchangeable and non-refundable from 30 minutes after departure.

Exchange and cancellation terms and conditions of other train companies

  • For your OUIGO journeys, tickets cannot be cancelled and are non-refundable. 

    Only an exchange is possible. Up to 30 minutes before departure, you can modify your dates, times or routes for all passengers. 

    Expect to pay €19 per passenger per trip.

    If your TER ticket is refundable up to D-1, you can exchange it for another TER route or a ticket from another train company (except for certain international companies) on SNCF Connect or in an agency. If your new ticket is more expensive than your old one, you will have to pay the difference. 

    Good to know

    TER tickets are valid for 1 day.

    Unless otherwise stated on your ticket, you can take any TER train of the day once on the selected date and for the selected route; Certain promotional fares are non-refundable.

    For a trip connecting with a TER train, you will have 2 separate tickets, with exchange and refund terms and conditions specific to each train company. You will be reminded of these terms and conditions at the time of purchase and on your ticket.
