Although the theatre that used to be on the square shut down in 1903, a stunning neo-classical opera house has since replaced it. Designed in 1932 by architect Albert Baert, this former Olympic pool was built in the finest Art Deco style of the time. It has since been converted into a museum dedicated to art and industry.

Goodbye to the smell of chlorine and hello to the collections of applied arts (drawing, textiles, ceramics) and fine arts (painting, sculpture from the 19th and 20th centuries). Even though it has been refurbished, a small pool remains in the middle of the works of art. It’s completely wacky!

Would you believe that the Villa Cavrois was commissioned in 1929? This is hard to imagine, as its architecture remains incredibly futuristic. It was first designed by the architect Robert Mallet-Stevens for the industrialist Paul Cavrois before being bought by the state in 2001. You can now visit it!
