Essential to know

Are you searching for a destination, but the journey you are trying to book does not appear in your search results?

These are some of the possible reasons why, along with our suggested solutions.

(last update )

  • If this is the case, some itineraries may not be available for sale.

In most cases, alternative transport will be provided.

A message providing some general information will appear on your search results page.

Consequently, some trips may not be available for sale on our site.

Replacement buses have been put into place in both directions on the Paris-Les Aubrais line, with a limited number of seats.

They are reserved for travellers with a special 10-euro booking purchased on the TER Centre Val de Loire website or on the Assistant SNCF application via “Travel cards”, “Buy”, “Bus engineering works Paris<>Les Aubrais”.

  • If you do not find a train during a peak travel period, it is undoubtedly because your train is full.

Try changing the date(s) for your outbound and/or return journey to find trains with available seats.

  • If your journey includes more than two changes, purchase your tickets by visiting an SNCF station or shop, or calling 3635 (toll-free number + regular calling charges). You can reach us by phone every day from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

If you want to put the odds on your side:

    TOP TIP #1

Consider travelling to alternative stations for large cities such as Paris, Lyon, Marseille, etc.

They are located on the outskirts and can be reached by public transport (bus, RER, shuttle, etc.) These stations offer different schedules, which you may find useful.

    For example:

    •    Near Paris: Marne-La-Vallée, Massy TGV, Versailles Chantier or Roissy Charles-De-Gaulle (25 km from Paris) which has a TGV and Ouigo station in Terminal 2
    •    In Lyon: Lyon Saint Exupéry, Lyon-Part-Dieu
    •    In Marseille: Aix-en-Provence TGV

    TOP TIP #2

If your travel dates are flexible, connections may be the right solution for you!

Try conducting two searches instead of one!

    For example:

    •    For Paris – Biarritz, search for Paris – Bordeaux, then Bordeaux – Biarritz
    •    For Paris – La Baule, search for Paris – Nantes then Nantes – La Baule
    •    For Paris – Vannes, search for Paris – Rennes then Rennes – Vannes

  • Tickets go on sale at different times depending on the destination.

Tickets for TGV INOUI, INTERCITES and Eurostar trains each go on sale at different times.

Tickets generally go on sale 4 months in advance, except for the summer, Christmas and winter holidays.

  • If there are no options available for your return journey, it is possible that the fare selected for your outbound journey is not available for the return journey.

The fares for your outbound and return journeys must match.

Some bookings are also temporarily unavailable on the SNCF Connect website and app due to technical difficulties.

    For example:

    •    If you book an outbound journey with TGV INOUI and a return journey with Eurostar (to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany), you cannot put the two tickets in the same basket. Book a one-way ticket for your outbound journey with TGV INOUI and a one-way ticket for your return journey with Eurostar (to Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany).

    •    If you are booking an outbound journey on TGVI INOUI and a return journey on a nighttime INTERCITES train, book a one-way trip for each direction.

  • Due to technical difficulties, it is currently impossible to book a pet ticket on TER trains (journeys with a train change) via our website for the region of SUD Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur.

Book your ticket on the website or the app, then purchase your pet ticket at the Self-Serve Kiosk.
