Services on board and upon arrival

If you are just starting to learn Italian, you can practice with the crew onboard. He is as comfortable in the language of Molière as that of Dante! Unless you spend your journey on the Internet thanks to the free wifi on the train.

Whether you’re looking for a snack or a satisfying meal, head to our buffet car to sample our Caffè Centrale bistro-style offerings, which are a mix of French and Italian fare. In 1st class, you can either be served at your seat or purchase something from the trolley service.

We also have books and games for all ages, in both French and Italian, available upon request.

You can bring your bicycle on the train with you, too. That way, you will be able to explore the country at your own pace!

How to prepare for your journey

Aboard the train, you can transport suitcases, weekend bags and backpacks, as well as skis, golf bags and folded-up children’s pushchairs. You are also allowed to transport bicycles (disassembled and stored in a case measuring no more than 1.20 m x 0.9 m) and surfboards (stored in a case measuring no more than 1.20 m x 0.9 m.)

There are no weight restrictions, but please only bring luggage that is easy to carry and stow in the areas provided.

Trunks are not allowed.

You can stow larger pieces of luggage in the racks next to the doors or in the middle of each car. Your smaller, lighter bags (computers, backpacks, briefcases, etc.) can be stowed in the overhead racks above your seat, or below your seat (for carry-on luggage.)

Some space is also available between certain seats that are positioned back-to-back.

For comfort and safety reasons, gangways and doors must be kept clear of overly large or bulky luggage items.

Remember to put a tag with your first and last names and address on each of your bags.

Eight key destinations in Italy

Depart for Italy from eight French cities including Paris, Lyon and Chambéry. On the other side of the Alps, six destinations with varied profiles are waiting for you: the two radiant cities Milan and Turin but also Novara, Vercelli, and the high mountain resorts Bardonnèche, Oulx-Sestrière. From the latter, you can also access the Montgenèvre by shuttle.

Milan is the flamboyant fashion capital and Turin, the former capital of the Duchy of Savoy. Bardonnèche is famous for hosting a part of the 2006 Winter Olympics. The best place to go skiing.

Four fares for the same adventure

Find the right TGV inOui ticket to Italy for you, depending on how much flexibility you need.  “Mini” tickets are very affordable, starting at just €29. However, they are non-exchangeable and non-refundable, so they are best for passengers who are sure their plans won’t change.

Seconda and Prima tickets are exchangeable and refundable free of charge up to 31 days before departure (you will be charged €3 for any changes made three days before departure, and €15 two days before departure.)

Liberté Seconda and Prima tickets are best for those who need a bit more freedom. They are exchangeable or refundable free of charge until the day of departure.

Finally, the Bambino fare offers children who are between 4 and 12 years of age a 50% discount compared to the price of an adult ticket.  And for children under the age of 4, tickets are just €9, or free without a seat!

Continue to take full advantage of your discount card

Just because you’re crossing a border doesn’t mean your discount card won’t work anymore! If you hold a Carte Avantage (Jeune, Famille, Week-end or Senior,) you can still take full advantage of it.

For example, with the Carte Avantage Week-end, you can get up to 30% off tickets to Italy, for you and another adult, and up to 60% off for one, two or three children aged 4-11 who are travelling with you!

The Carte Liberté is also valid on TGV inOui trains from France to Italy. You can enjoy discounts of 45% on the Liberté Prima fare in 1st class, and 60% on the Liberté Prima fare in 2nd class. If you don’t speak Italian yet, you might want to get studying, because you just might be spending more time visiting our neighbours!
