The best places to celebrate Halloween in London
The London Dungeon
The London Dungeon Experience takes you down below the surface of the city streets. Hear about some of the bloodiest, most horrifying people and events in London’s history, from Jack the Ripper and Sweeney Todd to the Great Fire of London and the dungeon maze. Check out the instruments of torture on display, and enjoy dramatic representations of various historic events.
The London Dungeon is on Tooley Street, very close to the London Bridge Underground station. It has been around since 1976, and it’s much more than just a museum: it’s an experience. It recounts 14 macabre tales in 14 different rooms decorated in the style of London’s Dark Ages.
The London Bridge Experience
The London Bridge Experience is not for the faint of heart. You must be 16 years or older to enter this world of terrifying monsters and decapitated heads. For Halloween, you can experience The Sickness. Join a group of ten people walking single file in the darkness through an immersive theatrical maze peopled with some of the most notorious characters in English history, such as Jack the Ripper, William Wallace and more. You will see, hear and even smell what London Bridge was like throughout its dark history!
The Ghost Bus Tour
Want to discover the city by bus while getting a bit of a fright? The Ghost Bus Tour is an excellent option for you! Climb on board this old bus from the 1960s and spend a little more than an hour driving through London as you hear about some of Great Britain’s scariest stories. The bus will take you past the Houses of Parliament, London Bridge, Westminster Abbey, Downing Street, Tower Bridge, St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London. Even the bus conductors themselves get in on the fun – it’s a comedy-horror theatrical experience on wheels!
The bus leaves from 8 Northumberland Avenue, in front of the Grand Hotel, across from the Sherlock Holmes Pub (nearby stations on the Underground’s Bakerloo, Northern, Circle and District lines) and Charing Cross station (on the Southeastern line), not far from Trafalgar Square.
Halloween at the Harry Potter Studios
From September 23rd to November 6th 2022, the Harry Potter Studios are offering the Dark Arts attraction to celebrate Halloween. The Great Hall will be decorated with more than 100 floating pumpkins, and visitors are invited to take part in a duel against the Death Eaters. Finally, armed with a torch, spectators will discover the secrets of the Forbidden Forest. During the visit, you will also get a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the famous saga.
