Have fun at the Climbing Festival

The Fête de l'Escalade will transport you to 1602, when Geneva won against the Duke of Savoy. This event commemorates this victory and immerses you in the history of Switzerland!

To celebrate one of Geneva's oldest traditions, a bonfire in the city and a procession of nearly 800 people dressed up for the occasion!

And to celebrate it like a true Genevan, don't forget:

To taste the Escalade soup
To dress up
To taste the chocolate pot
To learn a few words from the hymn of the canton of Geneva Cé que lainô which describes the victory of the Genevans.

Give yourself chills at the Christmas Cup

Organized on Lake Geneva, the Christmas Cup, the oldest popular race in Canton organized since 1934, is an unmissable event for experienced swimmers who jump into the water on a polar morning in December. Participants must swim a distance of 120 meters along the promenade of the English Garden, in water whose temperature varies between 2 and 8 degrees. Each year, nearly 2000 swimmers and brave people try to keep their cool in icy water to set the best time.

The competition will be held in December. Awesome to watch, this race will give you goosebumps.

Have fun at New Years in Geneva

Traditionally, on December 31 in Geneva, you have to go to the Quais du Mont Blanc where free concerts await you to make you dance before passing the new year.
And of course, meet at midnight to enjoy one of the most beautiful fireworks in Switzerland on the Geneva harbor. Each year a new theme is honored and the lights that shoot up in the sky are beautifully showcased by the sparkling water of the lake.
