The terraces of Place de la Comédie

If you want to catch some rays all day long, the Place de la Comédie is always a safe bet. Find a seat at whichever terrace catches your eye, then watch the locals meeting in front of the statue of the Three Graces and getting in and out of the colourful trams.

The Place du Marché aux Fleurs at lunchtime

This peaceful square with a modern fountain in the middle is best enjoyed when the sun is at its zenith. After enjoying a nice meal on a terrace – we recommend Burger et Ratatouille – take a moment to relax and soak up some vitamin D.

Place Candolle, on a calm afternoon

Surrounded by windows, the oh-so-peacefulPlace Candolle is little known to tourists! Have a seat on the terrace at Le Triskell and enjoy a nice hot chocolate with kirsch in winter or a nice cold beer in summer. The owner, known as “Momo”, is legendary for his warm welcome.

The tables and chairs of Vieux-Montpellier in the evening

At dinnertime, from Saint-Roch church, walk down to the lively terraces of the Rue des Teissiers and Rue du Plan d’Agde.

This is where you can find the surprising Bouchon Saint-Roch, with its checked tablecloths and generous portions. This restaurant is known for its authentic French cuisine, and is popular with locals and tourists alike... as will become abundantly clear when you see the crowds there all year round!
