Visit the Aquarium

The La Rochelle aquarium is a must for any self-respecting parent. You'll need two and a half hours for a visit that's sure to enchant the grown ups too. As soon as you enter the lift, you experience the thrilling sensation of diving into the depths of the ocean. Your journey begins when you arrive at the dimly lit jellyfish tunnel. The explanations are very informative and adapted for everybody's needs; they explain the life of the intertidal zone, the French coastline. Children follow a little trail throughout their visit. Several spots have been designed to create the illusion that you are surrounded by fish, when you take your photos. It's amazing, especially on the side with the barracudas! The tour ends in a tropical greenhouse with the piranha pool where water turtles walk at your feet in the middle of lush vegetation. Two videos teach you about the environment and coral cultivation.

Port au Plomb

With the Île de Ré bridge in the distance. Located in Masilly, the walk from La pelle to Coup de vague takes you along the pebble beach, allowing you to enjoy the scenery between the cliff on the one side and the carrelets (traditional Charente fisheries) on the other. A real picture postcard scene!

Boat trip to Marans

Marans is good spot for setting out to explore Poitevin Marsh. As a family, you can rent a motor boat for one hour to feed the ducks and their young, and discover mysterious canals...
