How to travel with your pet on a train in France?
TGV INOUI, INTERCITÉS
Small pets in a carrier: Your pet must travel in a closed bag or carrier (maximum size: 45 cm x 30 cm x 25 cm), placed on your lap or at your feet.
Dogs on a lead and muzzled: Your dog must remain on a lead, be muzzled throughout the journey, and stay at your feet.
In both cases, your pet travels for a fixed fare (starting from €10) for each train taken. Book their ticket at the same time as yours and ensure you travel with all necessary identification documents for your pet.
Each passenger may travel with up to two animals.
Guide dogs or assistance dogs: Guide dogs travel free of charge and without a ticket, at your feet on board. If your dog usually travels without a muzzle, this can remain the case onboard.
Your pet remains your responsibility throughout the journey.
INTERCITÉS night trains: Pets are allowed in seated areas for a fixed fare of €19. They are not permitted in couchette cars, except for guide or assistance dogs. If you occupy a private compartment, your pet is allowed free of charge.
With the exception of guide or assistance dogs, animals are not permitted on replacement buses provided during engineering works on INTERCITÉS services.
